Jordan Update February 2020
Hi everyone, it’s been months since we’ve given an update on Jordan and my family’s health and it’s time for one so here goes.
The last year has been extremely difficult for our family. Dad was put on a low dose of a benzodiazepine a few years ago for anxiety following
an extremely severe autoimmune reaction to food. He took the medication as prescribed. Last April when my mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer, the dose of the medication was increased. It became apparent that he was suffering from both a physical dependency and a paradoxical reaction to the medication. A paradoxical reaction means the drugs do the opposite of what they’re supposed to. These reactions are rare but are not unheard of.
For the last 8 months he’s been in unbearable discomfort from this drug, made worse when trying to remove it, because of the addition of withdrawal symptoms, stemming from physical dependence. He experienced terrible akathisia, which is a condition where the person feels an incredible, endless, irresistible restlessness, bordering on
panic, and an inability to sit still. The reaction made him suicidal.
After several failed treatment attempts in North American hospitals, including attempts at tapering and micro-tapering, we had to seek an emergency medical benzodiazepine detox, which we were only able to find in Russia. It was incredibly gruelling, and was further complicated by severe pneumonia which we’ve been told he developed in one of the previous hospitals. He’s had to spend 4 weeks in the ICU in terrible shape, but, with
the help of some extremely competent and courageous doctors, he survived. The decision to bring him to Russia was made in extreme desperation, when we couldn’t find any better option. The uncertainty around his recovery has been one of the most difficult and scary experiences we’ve ever had.
So: Finally Dad is on the mend, even though there’s a lot of physiological damage that he needs to recover from. He’s improving, and is off the horrible medication. His sense of humour is back. He’s smiling again for the first time in months, but he still has a long way to go to recover fully.
It appears that we are going to get through this by the skin of our teeth.
So let me make a couple of things clear:
1. Neither our family nor the doctors here believe that this is a case of
psychological addiction.
2. Benzodiazepine physical dependence due to brain changes can occur in a matter of weeks. It can be made even worse by paradoxical reactions that are difficult to diagnose, and can be extremely dangerous.
3. We’ve been told and hope that Dad will recover fully but it will take time and he still has a ways to go.
4. We are extremely lucky and grateful that he’s alive.
The next update will come from him directly. Thanks again for all the support.

Dr Peterson, your rationality has challenged me to improve my thinking. Your thoughtfulness about our human nature has helped to prod me into examining my inner self. And your moral courage has been an inspiration to me. God bless you and your family.

Sounds like a run of the mill addict to me, except he has money to hide and run to other countries for drug treatment. I know you guys can't admit it because you've probably criticized addictive behavior in the past. He's a grifter and I don't wish him the best.

Sending prayers of comfort & love for Dr Peterson, your mother and you. I truly feel for you and your family at this time. I’m a mental health and substance misuse nurse and know a benzodiazepine detoxification is not easy and takes much longer than a opiate or alcohol detox. Lots of love from the 🇬🇧

Well, your father predicted this... Try the treatment of dr Ewa Dąbrowska ewadabrowska.pl/ since you are relatively close to Poland why not to give it a try. She helped so many people with various diseases also of immune system and her methods (diet treatment mainly) are non orthodox but very reasonable, and what is most important - they work. The second thing - pray for your father, make others pray for him, buy him a rosary and teach him to say it. Just like this. He is now paying the price for the order, God's order, he tries to (re)implement in the world that has lost its track.

This is why I generally don't do drugs, even if the drug dealer is called a "pharmacist." Aside from antibiotics, I scarcely see evidence of any drug that has been a net gain for humanity.

Thank you for the update. I pray for his speedy and full recovery. Last year between November and December, God woke me up at about 3am. He told me to pray for Mr Jordan Peterson with an Audible voice. Then without questions I proceeded to pray for him, because I believe in praying for someone first and ask questions later to avoid subjectivity. I prayed intensively for you Jordan and your family as a whole. So when I was done I asked the Lord about the reason for the prayer, I mean I didn't know anything about Jordan accept me following his lectures and intriguing interviews. To cut the story short, satan is attacking you because of what you stood for regarding the Bill C16. You stood against the "statue" of baal the statue of the LGBTQI.. the Lord told me to tell you that you should come closer to Him, because you mostly stand for what's righteous and upright. With just a word, come to Him.

2:10 “so let me make a couple of things clear (to you idiots). Both our family and our doctor (whom we pay) are saying this is NOT a psychological addiction but rather a physical addiction due to an autoimmune reaction to food....” to admit Jordan has psychological issues would not be great for book sales and would render his endorsement of my Lion Diet in which he claims a strict diet of beef, salt and water is the cure for autoimmune disorders and mental health issues.... and 12 Rules is the antidote to chaos 🙈

I can’t imagine eating just beef has helped him either. Antidepressants was a really bad experience for me.

The problem is that Benzos only last a while before they reach a point where you need to either increase the dose or move on to a stronger Benzo. To be put straight on to clonazepam is an extreme move as it is one of the strongest. You really should start with something like Valium at a dose of roughly 10mg per day then either get off before your body gets used to it which when this happens you will start to have the opposite effect that it is meant to produce or be ready to up the dose by another 10mg. Usually Dotors will go as high as 30mg per day then move on to something stronger like lorazepam then nitrazepam etc. By starting on clonazepam that ability to go on stronger versions has been robbed. It's like opium for example. Imagine being given something like morphine without even trying something like Dehydrocodien first. Russia sounds like a good place for benzo treatment seeing as they created Phenazepam, one of the strongest effecting benzos per mg out there!

MY sincerest empathy to your family and your dad. Obviously you will have received wide-spread information on this situation, I personally have gone through this nightmare that is benzo withdrawal, it's a crime against humanity for any doctor to negligently prescribe this medication for an extended period of time. The bad news is protracted withdrawal syndrome is no laughing matter, and will linger for an unknown amount of time after cessation of the drug, It took me at least nine months after a ten month taper for the symptoms to calm down enough to return back to a manageable level for my work/life balance. The good news is this will certainly heal, it is a brutal and unforgiving process as the symptoms can vary in severity at any given moment for random intervals of time. Your looking at a 6 month to 3 year recovery on average, a lot of down-time will be required for the brain to adjust to this injury and return to normal. Rehab and all those kind of things I tried at my most desperate phase of this recovery won't do anything for you, the only thing you can do is wait... and wait.... and wait... until GABA levels go from being down-regulated back to normal. In the interim, I'd advise forcing exercise and any kind of distraction you can find, as the isolation and boredom of obsessing about the symptoms tends to drive people borderline suicidally insane. My prayers are with your family, you will get through this. Take care and never give up!
